Downhill:
All Right. Everyone Listen UP
The Eureka Springs Parks and Recreation have agreed to allow a permanent One Way DH trail at Lake Leatherwood. It wasn't a rubber stamp event so there are some aspects to this development that need attention from all riders.
First off the trail is closed unitl this Saturday, the 11th. It will open for practice that day. This means NO RIDING THE TRAIL UNTIL THEN.
Second. The Bear Ridge Home at the top of Lake Leatherwood is private property. KEEP ALL CARS OUT OF THE BEAR RIDGE HOME AT ALL TIMES. THERE IS NOT A TRAIL HEAD AT THE TOP OR A SHUTTLE OPTION THERE EXCEPT DURING PRACTICE AND COMPETITION DAYS.
If you want to ride the DH trail you need to ride your bike to the top or be dropped off at the gas station just beyond the home and ride your bike through. Bikes are OK. Be courteous to any guests of the home. LIKE: CONTROL YOUR SPEED. SAY HELLO. BE NICE. PRESENT YOURSELF AS A HUMAN.
About the Course:
The course is being designed as and called a Dowhnill Challenge Trail. Not a DH course. It will be used for a course but the rest of the year it will be managed like the other trails in the park. It will be one-way down. All IMBA rules of the trail apply. LIKE: CONTROL YOUR BIKE. Just because you can go fast, doesn't mean that it is appropriate all the time.
We are using the Whistler Trail Standards and International Marking System.
Green / Easy. The whole trail will be considered Green if you utilize the option lines around the TTF (Technical Trail Features)
Blue / More Difficult. These will feature medium size jumps and drops and imbedded items. No mandatory air.
Black / Most Difficul. These will feature bigger jumps stepdowns, and drops that require mandatory air.
All Features will be marked with a sign indicating what type of feature and the difficulty level.
This trail can be negotiated by any well tuned bike if you don't hit the features. Lots of cool berms, pump sections, and rhythm sections will make it fun for all.
If you do hit the big features. Be ready. Full face helmet, pads. Coast the course once and check out the features.
This will be one of the only downhill trails on public property in the central US. Don't screw up this opportunity by acausting other users or getting hurt. There are jungle drums in our area that represent a hostile group resentful of this resource. Prove to them we are adults, and understand safety and liablity issues.
Remember to ride respectfully.
Stay tuned to Utube and the www.progressivetraildesign.com blog for footage. Go now and search 13corywest13 to see the short track footage and some other runs of Eureka Trails.

Omni
A lot of riders don't realize we offer an omni. $80 entry fee. $250 take all pot plus coveted fatty top hat. Must compete in all 4 events. Need to be there Friday to register. Just to make it fun. I am offering up $100 bonus to anyone who can win this on a single speed that's $350 to win. Can change bikes for different events. But all bikes must be single speed. So for all you motor mouth, one gear one worlder's, step up or shut up.
Note for category issues. You must purchase a 1 day for each day if you don't have an annual liscence. You may cat down for DH or Trials. But you must race same cat for XC and ST. According to USAC's Vince Cucos, they are considered congruent disceplines because the same bikes are used. Can't argue with the man.
What can I say
It's Fatty Time
