Womble Paydirt Days June 27 & 28 |
Lead | |
|
All of us ride the Womble, many of us will be racing the Womble Classic on July 4th & 5th, most of us need "paydirt" points for AMBCS points so
this would be a great time to "get ur dun". We (the OCC gang) will be around both days at the 298 parking lot and Mauldin Meadow to direct you to
areas that need the most attention and with refreshments after your hard day of work. We will have tools but if you bring your own weedeater, loppers, etc it
would be helpful and we will provide gas for power equipment. Come on over, work for a while, ride for a while, swim in the river for a while and visit.

Paydirt weekend for Womble Trail | ||
|
We will be camping at Fulton Branch campground and/or Rocky Shoals(both campgrounds are free), wacking some weeds, lopping some brush, hanging race directional
arrows, pre-riding the Womble Classic course, swimming in the Ouachita river and visiting. We will meet on Sat between 8 and 9 am at Mauldin Meadow. FS 37 just
west of Mt. Ida. We will send you out in groups to areas that need work then return for a snack and swim. Sunday meet at 8 and repeat. It will be hot and we
don't expect to die of heat exhaustion on the trail but this will probably be the last maintenance on the Womble until fall and we want to cover as much
ground as possible. Join us for a day or the weekend, add what you can to the effort AND get paydirt points. Questions or details ed at 479 6374377,
edsue.hawkins@gmail.com or Scott, Todd or Jeremy

Man it was Hot | ||
|
Thanks to the 11 people who showed up on a very hot June weekend to help us keep the Womble in good condition for racing and for the many recreational cyclists
who come year after year looking for the "Womble" experience. The Womble may be special to all of us but anytime we ride a trail anywhere we know
that someone has been out there working to make that ride possible. So come ride this weekend or anytime, enjoy and thanks to Todd, Jeremy and all of the other
trail volunteers for their efforts.
