i have heard rumors that the arkansas state crit championships will be in conway this month. is there any info out there about this? thanks

I got this via email last week...
"Please forward to all concerned that the state crit is a go. Conway Chamber of Commerce just got final approval to use the facility, which BTW will be a new HP plant....looks like a potential sponsor for future years! Date is: Saturday, July 19. A flier with full info will be mailed by early next week. Wes Pruitt of the Conway Chamber and The Ride are the promoters." |

Wish we had some better communication around the state.... I had heard rumors of the Conway location but not the date. I have done every road race around the
state this year except hells kitchen.... so I should be on some kind of list..... I know things can't get posted on the schedule/board until they are more
concrete but its a little frustrating for someone who is trying to support Arkansas road racing and only have a 12 day notice for a race that looks like it
will be in september on the schedule associated with this board. .....

12 days, less than 2 weeks is very very poor notice for a state championship race. I planned international travel around this race. It is during one of the
biggest weekends of MTBing in the state as well. It would be nice to move it back a few weeks, for the benefit of not only the racers but the event itself. If
they are trying draw future sponsors for this event, having 50 people in the whole event wouldnt help the cause.

Please know again, that I realize this is not the best of situations. And that 12 days notice isnt going to make a lot of people happy. If I could have
helped it I would have. As far as sponsors go, we will have some next year. I have spoken with the Mayor of Conway and he wants to see the City become a
Major sponsor of this race in the future. He has some really great ideas by the way. All we need to do is get through this year with minor bumps and next
year will be something to look forward to.
I also took this project on because no one else had time. This is my firsts sacntioned event to direct. I was planning getting things out earlier but I also work for the Conway Chamber and we just landed the biggest project to AR that many Arkansans have ever, or will ever see in their lifetime here and the venue where HP is going is also the race site. Please dont leave snide comments, leave only constructive criticism. Thanks, and I hope to see all 50 people out there:) |

I understand... and I think bike racing in Arkansas is on the up swing, I just don't want anything really negative to happen and kill the momentum. Thanks
for taking on the responsibility of directing this race. I will be one of the 50 people..... or however many there are. I will however have to race the masters
race because of work commitments and the times of the Category races.
I would love to see a calender of races that are consistent from year to year and have a dedicated date.... this will help us keep the attendance increasing. Thanks again. |
