I just posted up 319 pictures from today's cross country race at Slaughter Pen. I know I've got several of some folks, and I'm sure I completely missed others. My apologies for that. I know this is a bit early, but I'm curious if there's a tentative (or final!) schedule for 2010 yet? I'm a big fan of racing in AR whenever I can and I try to plan road trips around the mtb schedule. thanks!

For those of you who want to warm up the legs. HSBA is hosting a "non-competitive" road race up West Mountain Drive (road bike). It will be held on Saturday the 21st. at 2:00 p.m. It leaves from Parkside and climbs the 5K summit. Entry fee is $15.00 and gets you a tee and food. For all your SSers, what is good gear ratio to race @ Slaughter Pen: 32x?

For reference I like an 18 at Womble & Vista. Run a 20 at Syllamo & Ouachita Trail. Run a 19 for fun around Camp, Burns, etc...

Any suggestions??? Never ridden the trail

I would like to say good luck to all of my mt. bike friends for the rest of the year. I am out for at least 8 weeks with broken leg and ankle, 8 screws, 1 plate some wire and 30 staples it is good as new. Oct 10^th myself and 38 friends competed in a 40 years old and over bullriding. Wish I had some scary story to tell but in short rode my bull stepped off and my ankle folded under. So about mid Dec I will be back on my bike getting ready for the OC. I am looking for advice on a new bike for Trevor, he is currently riding a XS Cannondale that we built up for his mom. She wants her bike and he wants one of his own. If you have seen him you know he is very short therefore finding a decent bike has been dificult. I wouldnt mind getting a frame and building a bike or buying one built up. He is only 12 so I really dont want to...

2009 Slaughter Pen Jam

Make sure that everyone here makes plans to come up to Bentonville Ar for the 2nd annual Slaughter Pen Jam. The race takes place the weekend of Nov 6-8. This year we will have all classes of XC Race, Observed Trials, BMX/Mountain Cross, Kids Race, and a XC Trail Run. Food vendors and entertainment is being lined up now. The city is really rolling out the red carpet for us this year. The Trials Event will be Friday night on the Downtown square. This is huge for our sport!

why does it take so long for the race results to be posted? there should be no excuses except for lazyness. for example devil dens race results have yet to be posted...do you have a computer? this would make things easier and faster. its funny how you can race in Texas on Sunday and get home Sunday night to find that the results have been posted. We do our part by showing up, how about you doing your part and posting the results in a timely manner!

Springhill Event

On my way back home from Fayetteville last weekend, I notice the Arkansas River being very high. What is the status of the trails at Springhill. I will be riding in the Ride for the Cure in Springdale on Saturday. Am hoping the Springhill event will not be under water on Sunday. Would make for a great weekend to get to ride both events.

I was at DD last week for the adventure race. Looked like the course needed a little work, two big trees accross the trail and rockier than ever.

Has anyone seen the race flier. I was wondering about the start times for experts - hoping to race cat 5 road race in the morning the cat 1 mtb race in the afternoon if everything works out.
