I just posted up 319 pictures from today's cross country race at Slaughter Pen. I know I've got several of some folks, and I'm sure I completely missed others. My apologies for that. I know this is a bit early, but I'm curious if there's a tentative (or final!) schedule for 2010 yet? I'm a big fan of racing in AR whenever I can and I try to plan road trips around the mtb schedule. thanks!

For those of you who want to warm up the legs. HSBA is hosting a "non-competitive" road race up West Mountain Drive (road bike). It will be held on Saturday the 21st. at 2:00 p.m. It leaves from Parkside and climbs the 5K summit. Entry fee is $15.00 and gets you a tee and food. For all your SSers, what is good gear ratio to race @ Slaughter Pen: 32x?

For reference I like an 18 at Womble & Vista. Run a 20 at Syllamo & Ouachita Trail. Run a 19 for fun around Camp, Burns, etc...

Any suggestions??? Never ridden the trail

Can anyone post the "Mount Magazine" route? I've seen GPS tracks online, but they don't do much as far as telling you what roads/intersections to take unless you are able to load the track into a GPS

Hot Springs Bicycle Association is sponsoring a paydirt on October 24, 2009 at Cedar Glades Trail.

Items to Bring: Hammers - wire cutters - lopers - cordless drill - SACK LUNCH

Meet at Wildcat Entrance at 8:00 am by bathroom, work will last 4 to 5 hours.

Planned work will be repairing bridges damaged by recent floods, general trail cleaning, cut back limbs, work on re-route around V rock.

P.O.P. Ride Sunday Oct. 25th Perryville

This Sunday I will be holding another P.O.P. ride. This is a Great Ride we start in Perryville and go out Hwy 60 and then Take Hwy 7 over Ola Mtn. from there we will head towards and climb Petit Jean Mtn, after descending the front of Petit Jean we will head back towards Perryville on Hwy 9 and go over Perry Mtn. This is a great ride and the fall colors will be awesome.

Some say the trail work days at Slaughter Pen are times to be remembered. Some say they're reminiscent of the beer commercials of the 80s with good friends laughing and socializing. Others still, say the work days have a feel of the peace corps as strangers come together to better the community. And there are even a few that say that the 'one-ness' with the trail experienced afterwards makes them want to strip off all their clothes and roll on the the singletrack like a lonely...

I would like to say good luck to all of my mt. bike friends for the rest of the year. I am out for at least 8 weeks with broken leg and ankle, 8 screws, 1 plate some wire and 30 staples it is good as new. Oct 10^th myself and 38 friends competed in a 40 years old and over bullriding. Wish I had some scary story to tell but in short rode my bull stepped off and my ankle folded under. So about mid Dec I will be back on my bike getting ready for the OC. I am looking for advice on a new bike for Trevor, he is currently riding a XS Cannondale that we built up for his mom. She wants her bike and he wants one of his own. If you have seen him you know he is very short therefore finding a decent bike has been dificult. I wouldnt mind getting a frame and building a bike or buying one built up.
